Revolution in Air Purification: How New Technology is Changing Public Health

oczyszczanie powietrza

Everyone knows what air is. Not everyone sees what the air is like. But… what kind of air are we breathing? Only a few really know. It’s difficult to accurately diagnose what air truly is and the enormous role it plays in our lives. Fortunately, professionals who deal with this know well “what’s in the air.” SMAY expert Jarosław Jądrzyk, who has been working in decontamination and electrostatic air purification for many years, presents us with an advanced method of electrofiltration. It uses SMAY® iNAC® technology, which is revolutionizing the way we care for air cleanliness in our surroundings.

This technology not only deals with eliminating pollutants at the nano and microscopic levels but also with bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens, ensuring safety and protection in places where it’s most needed – such as hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and workplaces.

Better Air Quality Means Better Quality of Life

The high quality of the air we breathe determines our well-being and helps maintain good health. Unfortunately, both outdoor and indoor air is full of various pollutants. These substances, along with oxygen, enter our bodies. It’s not just about bacteria or viruses; the problem also includes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by everyday items such as furniture, carpets, or wall paints. Additional pollutants come from air conditioners and ventilation ducts, molds, naturally occurring pollen and allergens, and the ubiquitous smog, especially intense during the heating season.

We need the highest quality air almost everywhere, especially in places with large gatherings of people, such as schools, kindergartens, workplaces, hospitals, and other medical facilities. In these areas, the risk of infections is significant. Particularly vulnerable are patients in hematology, burn, and pulmonology wards, as well as those in operating rooms, surgical suites, and analytical laboratories. To meet these needs, SMAY is introducing the innovative and easy-to-use NEF900 air purifier/decontaminator to the market. Utilizing SMAY® iNAC® technology, this wall-mounted electrofilter ensures the biological cleanliness of the air, addressing important health needs.

What Does Air Carry?

Despite the efforts of many entities, especially environmental organizations, air pollution is not decreasing – it remains constant and sometimes even visibly increases. In addition to an adequate amount of physical activity and a balanced diet, the quality of the air we breathe is very important for our health. Unfortunately, we often have no control over the quality of the surrounding air, especially in enclosed spaces in public buildings. What does air carry? Polluted outdoor air enters every interior due to indoor overpressure, which causes external air to be sucked in through window leaks or ventilation. Smog particles, allergens, and pollen easily enter rooms because of their microscopic size.

Clean and healthy air is essential in every room, but it becomes particularly important in hospital wards where maintaining biological cleanliness is crucial. Patients with weakened immunity, such as those in hematology wards, require special protection against viruses and bacteria, as infections can be fatal. It is equally important to provide clean air in kindergartens and schools, where children are in a phase of intense development and need a healthy environment to grow properly. Clean air can prevent respiratory diseases, allergies, migraines, and protect against the further development of lung, circulatory, and heart diseases.

iNAC® Technology – How Does This Air Purification Innovation Work?

Nothing happens without technology. The SMAY iNAC® system is an advanced electrostatic method, also known as electrofiltration. The process begins with the negative charging of particles passing through the filter, which changes their charge to negative. In the next stage, these negatively charged particles are attracted to the filter by a positively polarized collecting filter, working similarly to a magnet. Once the particle is captured, a high voltage of 8 kV attacks it, deactivating biological threats such as viruses or bacteria. This intense current breaks down dangerous particles into carbon and protein, eliminating the threat. After this process, clean air, negatively ionized, is blown into the surroundings. This purified, ionized air is ideal for breathing!

The NEF900 purifies air from all particles, even the smallest ones, such as PM 0.1. It also stops particles across the full range of PM 1, PM 2.5, PM 4, PM 10, and larger.

Importance of Clean Air in Hospitals and Enclosed Spaces

People who have already used the NEF900 highlight the crystal clarity, lightness, and freshness of the air it creates, comparing it empirically to the air in the middle of a forest after rain or on the Baltic coast after a storm. Skiers compare the quality of air purified by the NEF900 to air at an altitude of 3000 m above sea level in the mountains during full snow cover. These sensations result from the air being negatively ionized, which NEF900 generates in the first stage of its operation. Negative ions positively affect human bodies and are a precious addition to the air we should be breathing.

Clean, threat-free air, negatively ionized, positively impacts our health by regulating many processes in our bodies. With every breath, a person brings air containing oxygen into their body, which reaches the bloodstream through the alveoli. If the inhaled air is polluted, biological forms that can cause diseases enter the body along with the oxygen. If the air is decontaminated and purified of these threats, our bodies will also begin to cleanse themselves, and soon we will notice improvements in our health, fitness, and overall well-being.

When asked where electrostatic purification should be used, the answer is simple: EVERYWHERE. Given today’s air pollution and its poor quality in cities, indoor air should be purified in every home, school, kindergarten, public building, public transport, and especially in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

The Future of Air Purification and the Role of Innovation

The trend in air purification technology should not only rely on popularity but also on the tangible benefits of using electrostatic air purification. This is important for our health, the environment – through the reduction of waste related to replaceable filter cartridges – and energy efficiency. The features of the NEF900 demonstrate why choosing SMAY iNAC® technology is justified and beneficial.

However, we do not stop at the current state. We plan to expand our range with ducted devices and other series using electrostatic filters, proving our commitment to innovation and striving for excellence.

The Importance of Electrostatic Air Purification

Numerous health benefits and arguments suggest equipping rooms and buildings with SMAY iNAC® technology and electrostatic purifiers. Access to clean and healthy air in our polluted world is not a luxury but a basic right of every person. Breathing such air leads to a better and longer life.

Our commitment to developing and introducing new air purification technologies shows that innovation can have a real impact on improving quality of life. By introducing new solutions, we are not only responding to current needs but also contributing to building a healthier future for us all.
