Healthy Buildings Design Competition 2025 — REHVA Student Competition

Do you have a talent for design and dream of a great career? The Healthy Buildings Design Competition 2025 is an opportunity for students to test their skills in the real world and compete for more than just good grades. Your task? To redesign an old elementary school and transform it into a space that breathes the future.
REHVA Organizes a Competition for Students
Initiated by the REHVA Federation, the Healthy Buildings Design Competition 2025 (HBDC25) challenges students to design a healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient building in line with sustainable construction principles. Participants must skillfully renovate an old school building in a way that is both cost-effective and energy-efficient.
HBDC25 Competition Details
This year’s edition of the competition focuses on elementary schools, particularly those built during the 1960–1970 population boom across Europe. While some of these schools have undergone renovations, many remain inadequately adapted to modern standards.
A Healthy School for the Future
Now is the time to reimagine the school of the future and redesign educational spaces to meet the evolving needs of students. The competition’s mission is to create a comfortable and sustainable environment where children can learn safely and develop new skills. A healthy school, equipped with clean air solutions and sustainable design, represents the future of educational architecture.
The Prize? €5,000 and a Trip to Milan!
The grand prize is €5,000, and finalists will travel to Milan to present their projects on the big stage before Europe’s top engineers and architects. Additionally, the winning design may be published in the REHVA Journal, significantly boosting the winner’s professional reputation.
