SMAY begins construction of its new factory and corporate headquarters. STRABAG was selected the general contractor.

At the beginning of March, in a private tender, SMAY selected a general contractor for its new faktory and corporate headquarters. The selected company, mainly STRABAG, will be responsible for the whole process as the general contractor. The project will be supervised by G2J Consulting. The site will be handed over on March 15, and the works should begin later in March. The first stage will take more than a year and will be finished in spring 2022. The total investment is more than 82.5 million PLN.

Under the project, we will create modern production and warehouse facilities with a total area of 18,500 m2 along with a research and development laboratory and a 4-story office building with an area of 4,500 m2, as well as an amenity building with an area of 1,850 m2. The total area of the buildings amounts to 21,377 m2.

Ultimately, we want to have five buildings that will form a uniform structure, as well as to establish road infrastructure and to develop the entire area.

“For several years SMAY has been growing particularly dynamically, and the new registered office is the result of our development. We need a place that will meet our growing expectations and allow us to develop further”, says Marek Maj, co-owner and SMAY Investments Director.

“We are happy with the selection of STRABAG as the general contractor. In the construction of this state-of-the-art facility, we will surely make use of the experience that our engineers acquired working in multiple logistics centers and production plants in Poland”, adds Tomasz Wiszniewski, Director of Kraków Regional Office, STRABAG General Construction Directorate.

The company’s new production plant will employ the latest technological solutions, in accordance with the concept of Industry 4.0. The site will be equipped, among other things, with the following: modern machining centers connected with automatic raw material storerooms; a high-storage warehouse with collection points for external and internal use; innovative software for production and logistics process management; state-of-the-art solutions for removal of dust created during dusty materials processing (a clean hall); automation systems for metal sheet die shearing and bending processes. The warehouse will boast modern automatic back-up facilities.

At the design stage, SMAY also kept in mind our employees’ and visitors’ comfort. We included comfortable rest and refreshment facilities, a canteen, conference rooms, a wellness and spa zone, a gym, and a large terrace on the roof of the building. Appropriate air quality will be ensured by state-of-the-art ventilation solutions, including iFlow, an eco-friendly system that adapts to variable needs and room occupation, as well as solar panels and other energy-saving solutions that ensure low emissions.

The location of the new SMAY registered office was selected deliberately. This big lot of nearly 6 ha at Grabska street in Podłęże is situated in the economic zone and has excellent communication infrastructure – there is access to a motorway and a railway line, as well as space for a large car park for 371 passenger and delivery vehicles.

SMAY is a dynamically growing Polish manufacturing and consulting company. It has been present on the market for more than 32 years. SMAY delivers high-grade products and systems for the ventilation sector and in the area of smoke and heat control systems. The company employs about 500 people. Roughly 15 thousand customers from more than 27 countries use its products and services. SMAY owns a few patents and conducts its own research projects.
