SCF400X Jet Fans
Intended Use
Jet fans are devices designed to create reliable and effective ventilation systems for large-volume rooms, whilst ensuring a high level of safety and the removal of smoke and hot gases generated by a fire. Systems utilising jet fans are most commonly installed in tunnels, enclosed car parks and garages.
These systems fulfil two functions:
Ventilation function
This is carried out during normal operation of the system. The system’s task is to remove harmful pollutants (e.g. aldehydes, oxides, etc.) that arise in the Garage. The appropriate positioning of jet fans ensures air movement throughout the entire space, thereby preventing the formation of so-called ‘dead zones’ where pollutants could accumulate.
Smoke extraction function
This function is activated during a fire. In such a situation, the task of the jet fans is to force smoke and heat towards the extraction points so that they can be rapidly removed from the protected space. The operation of the jet ventilation system limits the spread of smoke, ensuring a clear access route for the fire service. Once the fire has been extinguished, the system ensures that the space is rapidly cleared of smoke and fire gases. An additional advantage of this solution is the reduction in smoke temperature, which protects the structure from excessive thermal stress.
Advantages
Jetting ventilation offers (depending on the level of automation) a number of significant advantages over conventional duct-based systems, namely:
- effective ventilation: air exchange not only within the range of the ventilation grilles but throughout the entire volume of the room,
- high smoke extraction efficiency achieved rapidly throughout the entire volume of the room,
- easy installation of the system,
- easy system balancing,
- reduced project design and installation time,
- lower system installation costs (no ductwork network or associated components),
- lower running costs (lower power requirements for fans, adjustment of operating cycles to actual demand),
- increased room volume free from ductwork (gain of free space in the ceiling cavity, where ductwork is usually routed – possibility of lowering the ceiling), improved aesthetics and appearance of the room,
- the SCF400X units ensure very high efficiency and low noise levels,
- the SCF400X units are fitted with two-speed motors.
