Comprehensive underground car park protection The fire ventilation system comprising single-compartment smoke extraction ducts (SDS type) was supplied for the building’s three-storey underground car park. This is the first-to-be-marketed complete set of products for steel duct based smoke ventilation systems, including accessories. The system is responsible for smoke and heat extraction.
It can work as an independent system or be connected to a multi-compartment system. It ensures integrity through thermal elongation compensation under fire conditions. The benefits of using the system include easy installation, low installation costs as well as smaller dimensions and weight, as compared to the system made of fireproof board technology, with an option to create modules comprising multiple units, and use greater sections/extended configurations where necessary.
Limited space for investment projects means that underground and multi-storey car parks for buildings become ever more popular. Particularly, they are commonplace in large city centres, where the number of parking spots in the streets is much smaller than the number of drivers looking for place to park. The smoke extraction system used for the facility is to ensure that, during a fire, smoke and gaseous combustion products will be removed. This will speed up evacuation and minimise property losses. Smoke and heat venting from the garage reduces the temperature and improves visibility, making it easier for fire fighters to locate the fire zone and proceed with rescue and fire suppression activities. Considering the above needs, SMAY offers product groups that provide comprehensive fire protection for garages. In its office section, the building is managed by the smart SAFETY WAY® system, which helps escape routes perform their fire protection function for the facility.
