High-rise buildings are sensitive to wind impact, as the speed of wind increases with height, leading to uneven pressure distribution on each storey of the building. In such cases, it is particularly important to provide protection against fire hazards. The only escape routes for people on upper floors in case there is a fire are corridors and stairwells. SKY TOWER is the tallest residential and office facility in Poland, and therefore its fire ventilation systems should ensure appropriate pressure distribution in the stairwell to enable emergency door opening on each floor, while at the same time prevent fire gases on the burning floor from entering the stairwell.
The air supply system in multiple-storey buildings is hugely affected by thermal draught, hence the best technical solution for smoke ventilation across the facility is SAFETY WAY®. The system ensures fire protection for vertical escape routes on each storey throughout the year. The system is controlled by new generation I&C devices, resistant to fluctuations and ensuring quick response. The project included installation of I&C, control devices, wiring, launch and calibration of the differential pressure system. The supply and installation of fire damper sets for jet ventilation was also ensured, as well as supply and installation of household ventilation in the office section, supply of fire dampers and other ventilation units for the entire facility (grills, diffusers, silencers, custom-made equipment, etc.). Smart fire safety systems are no longer technology of the distant future and can already be fitted in any facility to improve our safety.
