Axial smoke exhaust fan SEF

Intended Use

SEF smoke exhaust fans are devices designed to create reliable and effective ventilation systems for large-volume rooms, whilst ensuring a high level of safety and the removal of smoke and hot gases generated by a fire. They significantly facilitate the evacuation of people from the fire-affected zone and the firefighting operations carried out by the fire service. Systems utilising smoke exhaust fans are most commonly installed in enclosed car parks, garages, and buildings where smoke extraction systems are provided for. These systems fulfil three functions:

  • Smoke extraction: this function is activated during a fire. In this situation, the role of smoke exhaust fans is to remove smoke and heat from the protected area. The operation of smoke exhaust fans limits the spread of smoke, ensuring a clear access route for the fire service.
  • Aeration: this function is performed during a fire. In this situation, the fans operate in the opposite direction, forcing air into the occupied zone to flush it out and displace the smoke towards the so-called extraction points.
  • Residential ventilation (optional): this is carried out during normal operation of the system in continuous mode and ensures the removal of pollution. The residential function is usually carried out at significantly lower flow rates; therefore, the fans are designed to operate with an Inverter and may optionally be fitted with PTC sensors.
Classification

Fire resistance class of the SEF fan:

  • F400 – fire resistance rating up to 400 °C for 120 minutes
  • F300 – fire resistance rating up to 300 °C for 60 minutes
  • F200 – fire resistance rating up to 200 °C for 120 minutes

The fan complies with the requirements of the Standard:

  • PN-EN 12101-3: 2015 Smoke and heat control systems. Part 3: Technical requirements for smoke exhaust fans.

Performance parameters tested in accordance with the Standard:

  • PN-EN ISO 5801-2017 Fans. Performance testing using standardised test benches.
  • PN-EN ISO 13350:2015 Industrial fans. Testing of the performance characteristics of axial flow fans.
